Tournament
The Jefferson Park Club Singles Tournament was contested under a blue and cloudless sky on July 12th and 13th. A total of 12 bowlers played in two sections of six in a round robin. After five intensely competitive games Rodger Green and Chris Davis were the winners of their respective sections. In a final playoff which was watched by an enthusiastic cheering section, Rodger prevailed with a score of 18-5 and is the 2008 Jefferson Park Club Singles Champion. Congratulations to both Rodger and runner up Chris and to all the bowlers and markers who made this tournament a success,
Saturday May 17th provided the hottest day of the year and eight teams of Mixed Pairs toiled all day in the sun to determine who would be the Champions.
Richard Broad and Susan Parker won all their games to become the Champions, congratulations to them. Its and Nancy Nishikawa beat Chris Davis and Kat Marriner to secure second place. This put Chris and Kat into a tie with Jean and Howard Syder for third which was decided by plus points with Chris and Kat prevailing.
At the end of the day all the teams were looking forward to a deserved rest, everyone was tired as we are not used to this amount of heat after our very cool spring.

Although his introduction to lawn bowling was a meer two months ago, David Ice won the JPLBC Novice Tournament from a field of 12 bowlers. Ice was the only player to win all four of his matches under the blue skies of August and the drone of the Blue Angels.
The Novice champion happened upon Jefferson Park while looking for a venue to host a birthday party. One brief lesson later and he, his wife, his sister and his mom were hooked.
There was plenty of competition on the greens, with many matches coming down to the wire.
