We, the people…

JPLBC is run by volunteers who give thousands of hours of love and care to keep the club running smoothly, and support the sport of Bowls. Service to the community is in our history and our DNA, since 1942.

The bowling club is part of Seattle Parks and Recreation, which aims to provide recreation for everyone in region. We are proud to be part of this mission. We look forward to you becoming part of our family!

Board and Committee Chairs

president - Tom Sunderland

Longtime Beacon Hill resident and one of the original members of Men With Big Bowls, if you don't find Tom on the greens you might pass him on his bike as he labors up some nearby hill. Or he might be helping feed the world, one fish at a time. In any case, he's enjoying the ride.

Vice President - LAUREN HEYNE

Lauren has been a member since 2008. Her favorite volunteer role at JPLBC is talking to new people who either want to learn to bowl or just want to know more about it. Outside of the club, she's often paddling an outrigger canoe around Lake Washington with her paddle club or walking around Beacon Hill enjoying the sky, the views, and the people.

secretary - Leigh Nelson

Leigh is a Seattle engineer and mom who joined JPLBC in 2009, shortly after moving to Beacon Hill. Her favorite time to be at the club is during a Bowl Busters sunset. She is excited to serve on the board to support this wonderful neighborhood community.

Treasurer - MORGAN SCHULTE

Morgan brings a keen eye to detail and organization, and is a heckuva fellow

games & Greens - Richard Glasman

Richard is a Seattle architect, business owner, and father who has lived on North Beacon Hill since 1993. He’s been a member of JPLBC since 2006 (he served previously as House Chair), and believes the primary purpose of the Board is to support the members. He admits he is addicted to target sports with balls.

Greens - tom lind

Tom has been a member since 2002, served on the Board for 4 years as President, with also a brief stint as Tournament Chair. He is also a dedicated Donut Crew member since retiring from international travels as Exhibition Manager for Chihuly Studios. His pet peeves are Crows, opponents standing in the head, and being short on the last bowl.

house & grounds - eric ring

Eric is a Jefferson Park neighbor and a JPLBC member since his youth (or so he claims), joining Men With Big Bowls in 2005, its 2nd year. His bowling developed from a fun thing to do with people in the summer to a much more serious endeavor. Eric joined the board to give back for everything this club has given him. He hopes that all members find some time and volunteer to nurture and protect this special place.

Rentals - Marya Granger-O’Neill

Marya is an avid lawn bowler, competing in leagues year-round. She loves working in the construction industry and enjoys drives and bike rides around the region. When traveling, she and her husband have bowled at clubs in London, England; Victoria, BC; California, Oregon, and Washington. She loves spending time with family and friends cooking and playing games, especially the daily crossword.

communications - gina tolentino

Gina has been a member since 2010 - before that she played in a bocce league in our nation’s capital. When she’s not bowling, you can find her painting, chasing down a beach, or eating a pizza. She is chuffed to have recently competed in Bowls overseas, and she’s always looking to help new people discover the sport.

SOCIAL - JENNY MEARS

Jenny is a ball of energy, and the hostess with the mostest! When she isn't throwing a fête, she can be found traveling the world, or paddling on a pretty lake somewhere. It's not uncommon to say, "Where is Jenny now?" She has a love of animals and the great outdoors, and she and her husband John are fixtures at the club.
