We, the people…
JPLBC is run by volunteers who give thousands of hours of love and care to keep the club running smoothly, and support the sport of Bowls. Service to the community is in our history and our DNA, since 1942.
The bowling club is part of Seattle Parks and Recreation, which aims to provide recreation for everyone in region. We are proud to be part of this mission. We look forward to you becoming part of our family!
Board and Committee Chairs
president - Majken Ryherd
Majken (pronounced Myken) has been a member since 2022. Once she started lawn bowling, it quickly became a favorite passion and she loves to be an ambassador for lawn bowling and the JPLBC wherever she goes. Her other passion is mosaic art which takes her on all kinds of creative journeys including teaching mosaic classes. Majken lives near Greenlake with her husband, two cats and tiny dog. She has three adult kids and one super cute grandson.
Vice President - kristin DEAN
Kristin has been a proud Bowl Buster and club member since 2017. She loves the community found at the club, where she serves actively on the Social Committee and enjoys helping new bowlers feel at home. Beyond the greens, Kristin loves exploring the outdoors through hiking and travel, staying grounded with yoga, and spending time with her small dog.
secretary - TIM CALLAHAN
Tim has been an active member of JPLBC since 2018. He thoroughly enjoys the challenge of the sport, the camaraderie and the magnificent setting. He was previously the membership chair on the board from 2021-23 and is looking forward to contributing again as the board secretary. When he is not at the club, Tim enjoys gardening, hiking and traveling in the PNW and beyond with his wife and daughter.
Treasurer - MORGAN SCHULTE
Morgan is a CPA by day and is happy to bring his financial skills to his position at JPLBC. He is an avid bowler and volunteer, spending many hours on the greens making them look great and getting his bowl near the jack! Whether on the greens or looking at a spreadsheet, Morgan brings a keen eye to detail and organization and is a heckuva fellow.
Greens - Richard Glasman
Richard is a Seattle architect, business owner, and father who has lived on North Beacon Hill since 1993. He’s been a member of JPLBC since 2006 (he served previously as House Chair), and believes the primary purpose of the Board is to support the members. He admits he is addicted to target sports with balls.
GAMES - tom SUNDERLAND
Longtime Beacon Hill resident and one of the original members of Men With Big Bowls, if you don't find Tom on the greens you might pass him on his bike as he labors up some nearby hill. Or he might be helping feed the world, one fish at a time. In any case, he's enjoying the ride.
house & grounds - eric ring
Eric is a Jefferson Park neighbor and a JPLBC member since his youth (or so he claims), joining Men With Big Bowls in 2005, its 2nd year. His bowling developed from a fun thing to do with people in the summer to a much more serious endeavor. Eric joined the board to give back for everything this club has given him. He hopes that all members find some time and volunteer to nurture and protect this special place.
Rentals - Marya Granger-O’Neill
Marya is an avid lawn bowler, competing in leagues year-round. She loves working in the construction industry and enjoys drives and bike rides around the region. When traveling, she and her husband have bowled at clubs in London, England; Victoria, BC; California, Oregon, and Washington. She loves spending time with family and friends cooking and playing games, especially the daily crossword.
communications - Brittany Kadansky
Brittany joined the club in 2024, and would be overjoyed to teach anyone (yes, even you!) how to bowl. When she's not at JPLBC, you can find her at a farmers market, the coast, or a coffee shop near you!
SOCIAL - JENNY MEARS
Jenny is a ball of energy, and the hostess with the mostest! When she isn't throwing a fête, she can be found traveling the world, or paddling on a pretty lake somewhere. It's not uncommon to say, "Where is Jenny now?" She has a love of animals and the great outdoors, and she and her husband John are fixtures at the club.
